THE 4-1-1 ON CARING FOR YOUR INTIMATES

So you’ve purchased yourself some ethically made intimates from Amity & Alchemy. YAYYYYY!! That means we both get to do a happy dance!! Also, did we forget to mention you’re awesome!! To ensure the longevity of your new intimates, we’ve compiled a few handy dandy tips that’ll help ensure these babies will be hanging around your knickers drawer for longer than a hot minute.
TIP#1 HANDWASHING IS QUEEN SUPREME
We recommend handwashing your intimates in cool to lukewarm water with a gentle alcohol-free laundry detergent, then rinsing with cool water until it runs clear. Press the moisture out with a clean towel than hang out of direct sunlight until dry. This is especially important for any pieces that have lace or delicate fabric.
TIP#2 AVOID THE HEAT BABY
Elastic and heat don’t play well together, so never put your intimates in the dryer, hot water or near a hot iron. It’s a one-way ticket to ruining your gorgeous intimates darling.
TIP#3 USE A DELICATES BAG
If you really can’t be effed with handwashing your intimates that’s up to you babe, but I would highly recommend investing in a delicates bag to pop those bad boys in before putting them in the machine on a delicate cycle. Make sure to separate your colours girl!! Remember to use a gentle detergent and hang out of direct sunlight.
TIP#4 MOON CYCLE
Accidents happen babe, or you know Aunt Flow catches you by surprise, we’ve all been there. If there is a stain on your intimates, the best way to treat them is to run the area under cool water, then gently rub the stain with a solid laundry soap bar until it begins to fade. Let sit for 5 minutes then continue with chosen washing method. If that seems like to much fuss, you can soak them in water with a gentle stain remover for no longer than an hour. Whatever you do though, STAY AWAY FROM THE BLEACH!!
TIP#5 GIVE THEM A LITTLE DOWNTIME
You should wash your bras every 2-3 wears, but you’ll get the most longevity out of them if you rotate them between wears. Ideally put them in a time out for at least 24 hours to give the elastic time to recover.
TIP#6 SWEET DREAMS
It’s very tempting to look at your clean washing pile and just shove it in a drawer or cupboard somewhere, (out of sight, out of mind) but if you take care to store your handmade intimates neatly, they’ll love you for even longer.
We’ve taken the best care to ensure they’ll hold your bosoms up for the long haul by sourcing quality materials and carefully constructing every piece but following the above tips can help further ensure your newly found intimates go the distance for many years. If the elastic in your bra straps or band ever seem a little sad, drop us a line and we’d be happy to replace the elastic in your beloved bralettes and knickers.
Until next time,
stay sparkly dreamweavers xx
