GETTING INTIMATE WITH CAMILLE BRANDON

Name
Occupation
Part Time Photographer/Full Time Journalism and Arts Student
How did your passion lead you to where you are today??
I have always had a passion for taking photos. When I was in my final year of primary school I made a few of my friends dress up and I took photos of them at the beach (they were terrible images by the way). From there I got my first DSLR in Grade 11, before a school trip to South East Asia. I never learnt how to use the manual settings on my camera until I asked for a one day photography course for my birthday a couple of years ago. Since then I have enjoyed finding my footing as an amateur photographer, but it wasn't until this year that I really found my niche, which is female empowerment photography. I found my love and passion for this type of photography through taking photos of myself. I haven't looked back since!
What are your top 3 favourite things to do??
My top 3 favourite things to do are eat chocolate, take photos of women, and spend time with my nearly 3-year old nephew.
Single colour or bold print??
Always single colours for me because I'm quite a plain gal... I have way too much white in my wardrobe.
Favourite era for creative inspo??
I don't know if I have a specific era that I look to the most, but I absolutely love the film aesthetic.
When do you feel most confident??
I feel most confident when I'm looking at myself in the mirror in a matching set of underwear.
What does self love look like to you??
Self love looks like acceptance. I really try my best to accept myself and my body, in whatever its latest form is. Especially currently when we've just had a long bout of isolation. It's important to remind ourselves that it's totally okay if we've put on some extra weight. We're still beautiful.
Camille + I recently worked together on an amazing photoshoot collaboration, everything she creates is absolute magic! You can follow Camille here and find more of her work here!
